OC Super Fair Hosts AASA Entertainment’s Big Air BMX Triples
LOS ANGELES (May 7, 2009) – ASA Entertainment’s Big Air BMX Triples, part of the 2009 ASA Action Sports World Tour, returns to Southern California this Summer for a three day event, July 29-31, at the OC Super Fair. Fans will see the top professional BMX freestyle athletes soaring over the 170-foot course, flipping and whipping with powerful skill and expertise through two 25-foot jumps, and a course-ending quarter-pipe. In a head-to-head format, the sport’s top men will compete in two preliminary rounds, Wednesday, July 29th and Thursday, July 30th, returning on Friday, July 31st for the finals. The event starts at 8:00 p.m. each evening and offers an up close and personal view of all the action under the California stars. The OC Super Fair runs from July 10-August 9. More info can be found at ocfair.com.
Tickets for the Big Air BMX Triples are on sale now at all Ticketmaster outlets and Ticketmaster.com. Event Admission is free with paid OC Super Fair admission. Reserved seats are available for $15.00 and include Fair admission. Three-day event ticket packages are also available at a 10% discount.
Last year’s Big Air BMX Triples saw Diogo Canina (Amparo, Brazil) claim first place with Southern California’s own Austin Coleman (Los Angeles) and TJ Ellis (Moreno Valley) taking second and third place, respectively. However in 2009 Ellis has seared his stamp on the Triples, taking second place at the ASA Action Sports World Tour event in Minneapolis and the event title last weekend at the ASA Action Sports World Tour event in Chicago. It was the first BMX event title Ellis has ever won and he’s hungry for more.
Competition this year has been tight; athletes are coming off the ramps in early rounds with the most advanced flip and whip variations in the books. 2009 has also seen the debut of two new stars in the Triples – Minneapolis’ Dustin Griess and Bulldog Bikes rider Colton Satterfield (Salt Lake City, Utah) both of whom debuted two weeks ago at the Target Center during the ASA’s second tour stop. Dirt riding superstars have also gravitated to the Triples; infamous BMX shredder Cory Nasty Nastazio (Flushing, New York) and James Foster (Redlands, Calif.) competed in Chicago, but to no avail. A miss-adjustment in the first round eliminated Nastazio, and Ellis, also known for dirt jumping, bested Foster in the semi-finals and eventually claimed the title. Fans in Southern California can expect more of the same intense, high-flying action on July 29 – 31.
